If you have a 25 Pin Serial Port, then yes, you can connect to it.

To correct my self on an earlier post:

That's 1200 BAUD, No PARITY 8 Data Bits and 1 Stop bit.

Alright I am getting there. Thanks for all your help!!! I purchased Hyper terminal. I set the setting (2 for stop bit - per manual - but i tried both anyway). I hooked it up to the 25 pin serial port. My computer is calling that LPT1. I try to open a connection on hyper terminal and it does not have LPT1 as a choice just the com ports. Now what?

Matt-

Pay attention to the above posts.

It's a SERIAL port. Com 1 or Com 2

It's usually a 9 pin connector, unless you have a really old computer

Launch Hyperterminal, select Direct to Com 1, then
Bits per second = 1200
Data Bits = 8
Parity = None
Stop Bits = 1
Flow Control = None

Connect the pieces up and you should see call data flying across your screen

Confusing isn't it. The normal adapter used is not the 355a but the 355af. This provides a 25 pin female connector to a rj45 8pin type jack. The normal serial connector on most PCs is a 9 pin D mail plug, the 25 pin D connector is a parallel conection, typicaly for printers. You need another adapter to go from the 9 pin D plug on the back of the PC to the 25 pin D plug of the 355af adapter. This adapter cables normally are 9 pin female to 25 pin male. You could use a gender-bender to convert the 355a to a 355af. Hope this helps
