Hello all-
I recently installed a Magix R4, with ETR cards, to replace a Partner II. The switch also has a 412 TDL card for the console, a 100DCD for the PRI, and Magix Messaging R4. The service provider, Paetec, had to reconfigure the PRI the day of the cut, because they didn't understand 6 weeks previous that it was ATT custom. They had set it up as a virtual PRI. After they corrected it, calls in and out tested OK, but the customer called several days later to complain that none of their speakerphones worked. In testing, they all worked on intercom calls, but outside calls broke up badly; about every sixth word being transmitted, but receiving OK. Changed 016 ETR's to no avail, tested sets at switch-same problem. Paetec says if they can talk on handset OK, it's not their problem. I don't know what the parameters are, for a PRI on their end, but I think if I can talk OK on the speakerphone on an IC call, it's not my switch. Any ideas? Thanks!

Is this only happening on the Partner phones?
Have you tested this on a 44XX digital phone.

Sorry,I neglected to specify-this problem is specific to the partner sets, most all are 18D euro 1 style, which had nonproblems at all working non the partner II. The lone 4424LD set works OK on speakerphone.

If you have a Harris/Fluke TS22A or equivalent butt set with speaker phone.
Test the ETR ports with that and see what you get.

I don't see how it could be a service provider problem per the way you are explaining it.

ETR ports on magix systems don't give you analog dial tone with which to test;something in the protocols they wrote for the boards kill the aux port on the bottom of the set, and you can't pull dial tone with a butt set at the port itself. If you have an alternative way to test, I'd be more than appreciative.

TTT-I'll try that tomorrow and let you know what happens. Although it's odd, 2 other almost identical installs within 2 months, both from partner II's to magix's, utilizing ETR boards, AND PRI's, with no speakerphone problems. I'll try anything to make the customer happy.

I have NEVER had good luck with partner speaker phones on a magix. I have never figured it out. I have found that Some phones work ok and most don't. On my installs it was like a Pfft sound every 8 seconds. It seems to be a phone / system compatibility issue because if the phone was clear it would be fine on any extension port and if the phone was choppy it would be choppy on any port. I have had to shuffle phones around so that people that need to USE speaker phones got the o.k. ones and the ones with issues ended up in copy rooms and other low use areas.

Touch Tone Tommy-I moved ETR stations around, to set the last 6 ports to T&R-no affect.

ttech- This is the 3rd Magix R4 install,in a 2 month period, all replacing a Partner II that the various customers had outgrown, AND, coinky-dink, all went with PRI to replace analog dial tone. Both of the other installs have had no problem at all with speakerphone performance. The only 2 differences between this one and the other 2:
a)this install used 2-pr patch cords, the others,I used 25 pr cable and cut plugs on the switch end, cabled to 66/110 blocks, and cross-connected stations. b)This install has a 412 card to drive a 4424LD console, the other 2 do not. I don't see that that should have any effect, but I've been wrong before.

What's the chances you could take one of the "bad" partner phones to one of your good customers, and do an A/B comparison, and perhaps borrow one of their "good" phones to take back to this problem site?
